Looking for something different and new to try, my friend Jamie and I were walking up Polk Street tonight and noticed Aicha was open. So, we decided to take a chance and were not disappointed.
Not too crowded at first (it got busier after we arrived), we were promptly greeted and told we could sit where we liked. Water in clean glasses and hot sweet mint tea were ordered and served quickly.
Our server suggested we split the $23, 4-course menu, which was a great deal and surprised us with a good amount of food. The soup arrived after our 3-salad sampler, which was fresh and tasty. Fresh eggplant, red peppers and marinated carrots were perfect.
The Couscous Royale with lamb, chicken, couscous, and other assorted veggies was well prepared and delicious. Rice pudding for dessert rounded out the meal. Not the best, but not bad either.
Overall, I like Aicha, and while the service wasn't fast, that was ok with me,as it was attentive with several helpful menu suggestions to help us throughout our meal.
